Arlington County VA Data Destruction & E-Waste Recycling
Arlington County understands that providing a green alternative to the computer recycling dilemma empowers community members to reduce their personal carbon footprints and provides a service for county residents to drop off old electronics. As of March 1, 2021, Securis is proud to be the chosen vendor to carry out the e-waste recycling services for Arlington County.
The county estimates that 69 tons of equipment will be recycled in 2021 through this program, keeping hazardous wastes from landfills. In addition to the 65 County facilities, the County’s Household E-Waste Program accepts end-of-life electronics for proper recycling. The County will also hold two recycling events in 2021.
For Arlington e-waste recycling, Securis is required to make the following report(s) available for:
• Detailed inventory of items received
• Certificate of Destruction and/or Media Sanitization
• Certificate of Recycling
• Quarterly Report Summarizing Sales and Revenue
• Weight data (total pounds or tonnage of E-waste collected)
Arlington E-Waste Recycling: What Happens After Securis Picks Up the County’s E-Waste
At Securis, 100 percent of each electronic asset entrusted to the firm is recycled. Absolutely nothing is left to be disposed of in a landfill. All recycling is processed domestically to ensure the highest level of security.
Securis does not export any electronics to developing countries or non-OECD countries.
Securis believes that the decision to recycle can easily become the cornerstone of any organization or County’s larger green initiatives. It is a natural extension of global responsibility that illustrates a dedication to a better tomorrow and can be a value-added marketing tool that inspires a different level of confidence from your customers, partners, and affiliates.
What Happens to the Data on Hard Drives, Phones, and Other Data-Containing Devices
Securis has industrial shredders for all data-containing devices. Even small items such as solid-state drives are protected with Securis’ microshredder that grinds pieces down to the NSA’s recommended particle size of 2mm. Securis employs an HPM-1 Degausser which guarantees that data is completely erased. The HPM-1 degausser’s listing in the NSA DEPL guarantees you that your data is completely gone and will not end up in the wrong hands.
Certified by the Defense Logistics Information Service to handle classified, mission-critical military data, Securis is one of the first companies to receive R2 and NAID certification in data destruction including complete compliance with every federal, state, and industry regulation. Securis’ data destruction services are for effective management of any organization’s data storage assets and are designed to meet or exceed all National Security Agency (NSA) requirements. We provide the highest standard of service to all federal, state, and local government agencies, as well as corporate entities wishing to responsibly and permanently destroy all data storage devices. Data destruction methods are in compliance with the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Special Publication Series 800-88.
