Socially Distant Recycling Event

To listen to an automated message about this event, dial 703-552-5424.

In a continued effort to keep you and our employees safe, Securis’ monthly electronics recycling and hard drive shredding event will be held abiding by social distancing guidelines. Please read the following prior to arriving so that we’re able to service each person safely and with minimal risk.

Upon arrival, please stay in your car. If there’s a line, get in it (remaining in your car). When it’s your turn to recycle equipment and have items destroyed, a Securis team member will approach your vehicle wearing gloves. He will have two bins for you – one marked “SHRED” and the other marked “RECYCLE.” Drop hard drives, cell phones, and devices containing data you want to be shredded into the “SHRED” bin. Drop other items into the “RECYCLE” bin.

If there are items in your trunk, pop it, and either allow us to remove your items for you or, if you choose to remove them, please respect the six feet of distance between yourself and our employees at all times.

Data Destruction for Hard Drives and Other Devices

If you have a laptop, desktop, or similar and you need the hard drive removed and want to witness its destruction, we’ll take the device from you and remove the drive on a table while you witness the process from the safety of your vehicle. The truck with our shredder will be in the parking lot so that you’re able to see your drive being shredded from your car. A Securis team member will approach your car with an iPad for payment so that you do not need to leave your vehicle. You will not need to sign in order to limit contact.

Locations:

3900 Stonecroft Blvd Suite F, Chantilly, VA 20151

True Shred will be at the event and will charge separately from Securis for paper shredding.

Please note that there is no longer an event in Maryland. Additionally, the North Carolina location will NOT be providing a community event for the foreseeable future. The Virginia Beach/Hampton Roads location provides community recycling by appointment only.

Securis’s dedication to its community mission includes the extension of its resources to residents of all areas who wish to securely recycle their electronics in a way that does not harm the environment. Securis understands that providing a green alternative to the computer recycling dilemma, allowing many in the community to help reduce their personal carbon footprint. Millions of pounds of electronics have been collected since The Monthly Residential Recycling Event’s inception in 2005.

Acceptable Items and Fees

Securis processes just about anything with a plug. At this event, we charge for Monitors ($15 each), Televisions ($15-35 each), and Hard Drive Destruction (per hard drive). Please see our “List of Acceptable Items and Basic Fees” for more information. Note: No cash or checks, please. Credit or debit cards only.

Data Destruction

Each event also offers hard drive shredding while you watch. A trained Securis employee will remove the hard disk drive from your computer, laptop or server while you watch. The hard drive is then dropped into our giant industrial shredder and ground down to little pieces. The process only takes a few minutes. You will leave with peace of mind that your information is gone forever. A small fee of $10.00 is charged for each hard drive that is shredded.

Paper Shredding

Some locations have partnered with a leading on-site paper shredding company and offer paper shredding services for all participants of our monthly event. The cost will be $10 per Regular Bankers Box (10″x12″x15″).
