Securis’ Secure IT Asset Disposition (ITAD) Solutions for State, Local and Education

When considering secure IT Asset Disposition (ITAD) for Government and Education, regulatory compliance and an obligation to recycle or re-use items to the extent possible requires finding an experienced and trustworthy partner for your electronic waste disposal and recycling projects.  For more than 20 years, Securis has provided the highest standard of service to Government and Educational institutions wishing to responsibly dispose of their end-of-life or obsolete devices while maintaining the highest level of data security and regulatory compliance through our unique end-to-end data destruction process. Our process has been designed and certified to meet or exceed all National Security Agency (NSA) standards. We are also certified by the Defense Logistics Information Service to store and transport military critical technical data.  In addition, Securis currently has a contract with the Federal Government for on-site and off-site shredding services, degaussing services, and IT asset recycling.  We also have a contract with the State of Virginia and many municipal agreements with cities and counties to recycle e-waste.

Data Decommissioning, NSA-approved Disintegration methods

Securis’ data destruction services completely comply with HIPAA,  FERPA, and other state and federal compliance measures. Securis guarantees complete physical and/or electronic destruction of your data.  These services can be provided at Securis’ secure facilities or onsite at the client’s offices, which allows the destruction process to be witnessed and eliminates the chain of custody.

Securis employs different methods to ensure that your electronics are completely sanitized before any value recovery or recycling takes place. Securis will first work with you to assess the level of security required and the kind of media that needs to be sanitized. Based on this information, a data destruction plan will be created.

Methods deployed by Securis include:

  • Wiping: This method employs software to wipe data.  Wiping is a more sustainable solution than shredding, as equipment can be reused.
  • Degaussing: Degaussing is the process of totally erasing data by reducing or eliminating an unwanted magnetic field (information) stored on tape and disk media. Securis uses an industrial degausser approved by the National Security AgencyNational Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Special Publication Series 800-88, and The Department of Defense.  Degaussing services can be done on-site at a customer’s location or off-site at Securis’ NAID-certified facility.
  • Shredding: Following degaussing, data storage devices are shredded. Our industrial shredder can grind down any size data storage device. Once the devices have been shredded, the residual material is domestically recycled and refined.
  • Disintegration:  To ensure the absolute destruction of smaller devices such as Solid State Drives (SSDs), flash drives, and micro SD cards,  Securis has added a disintegration option that goes beyond traditional shredding and pulverizes devices into 2MM e-crumbs (shown in the photo on the right). Securis can handle any number of hard drives, backup tapes, CDs, cell phones, PDAs, memory devices, and X-rays.

Mobile data destruction services avaialable

We Can Come to you!

Our mobile services include a truck fleet with generators that don’t require power at the customer site. These trucks have integrated data destruction capabilities, as described above.  In addition to sending a mobile truck, we can also send storm cases that lock and are sealed by the customer. The customer then securely ships them to a local office for processing. In fact, the US Government allows classified information to be transmitted by US Registered for express mail.  Using our mobile services and storm case supply, we have served numerous clients throughout the U.S.

Sustainable E-Waste Recycling
